Flames Rip Through Vacant Easton Home

EASTON (CBS) – Flames ripped through a vacant Easton home early Saturday morning.

Heavy flames and smoke were reported around 7 a.m. on Washington Street. Flames were shooting through multiple windows in the home, which had been vacant since May.

Mutual aid from surrounding towns was required. It took about a half hour to knock down heavy flames, and the fire was completely out by about 10 a.m.

The home is located across from a shopping plaza. Firefighters are asking anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact them.

"Our guys, and those who came on mutual aid, did a great job of containing and knocking this fire down as quickly as possible," fire chief Kevin Partridge said. "With multiple homes nearby, I was glad to see that there were no other properties damaged given how heavy the fire was upon arrival."
