Dyson Unveils Supersonic Hair Dryer
TOKYO (CBS) – The maker of bagless vacuums and bladeless fans is hoping its new hair care product will revolutionize your morning routine.
The Dyson supersonic hair dryer was introduced in Tokyo Wednesday morning. It's advertised as smaller, lighter and more efficient than the average hair dryer, and Dyson says it's quiet enough that you can talk over it while in use
Founder James Dyson, who launched his groundbreaking line of vacuums about 30 years ago, tells CBS This Morning that it took 100 engineers four years and $200 million to develop the hair dryer.
All this new technology will come at a price. When the hair dryer goes on sale in the United States in September, it's set to retail at $400.
Dyson thinks some people will see it as a worthy investment.
"People really care about their hair and they care about their beauty," he told CBS This Morning. "They want nice, smooth glossy hair, so yes, I think they will pay for it – at least I hope they do."
