Dustin Pedroia Off Disabled List, Back In Lineup For Red Sox
BOSTON (CBS) -- Dustin Pedroia is back for the Boston Red Sox.
Pedroia was activated from the disabled list on Tuesday and is back in the lineup, slotted in at second base and batting in the No. 2 spot as Boston continues their three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park.
A right hamstring injury caused Pedroia to miss 16 games at the end of June and early July, and he returned for just six games when the injury flared up again. He went 1-for-22 at the plate before landing back on the disabled list on July 22. Overall, the injury kept Pedroia out of 58 games this season.
In the 75 games he played, Pedroia hit .287 with a .389 OBP to go with nine home runs and 34 RBIs.
Activating Pedroia was just one of a handful of moves the Red Sox made on Tuesday. They also recalled right-handers Jonathan Aro and Matt Barnes and left-hander Rich Hill from Pawtucket.
All four players are available for Tuesday night's game against Toronto.
