Daily Talker: Lazy Dog Owners
Cracking down on lazy dog owners. An apartment complex in Utah has found a new way to make sure dog owners clean up after their pets.
They're using dog DNA testing. Each resident had to pay $25 to have their dog swabbed. Then all of the dogs' samples were sent to a company in Florida that specializes in dog DNA. When officials from the complex find a mess left behind, they get to work. They take a sample and send it to the company in Tampa where they analyze it and determine which dog is responsible. If found guilty of leaving a mess behind, the dog's owner is charged $50 for the test and another $50 for cleanup.
If that doesn't deter you, the penalties get a lot stiffer. The second time you're caught, you get a warning. The third time, you're asked to move out.
What do you think about this? Is this a good way to make sure dog owner's clean up after their pets? Or is this going too far?
