Daily Talker: Genetic Testing For Babies

Bringing a baby into this world is one of the happiest moments most people will ever experience.

But, it is also one of the most nerve-wracking.

Shortly after delivery, every newborn will get a blood test to screen for dozens of potential health problems.

Now those tests are getting even more high tech.

Doctors at two Boston hospitals are starting to take a closer look at your child's DNA.

They're hoping to enroll hundreds of families in a program to sequence their newborn's genome.

This means they'll be able to predict your child's chances of getting more than a thousand diseases like Alzheimer's and certain cancers.

What do you think about the high tech tests?

Would you want to know the results?
