Crucial Weekend For Lawmakers Trying To Pass Transportation Plan

BOSTON (CBS) - This is a crucial weekend for House and Senate leaders who are trying to pass their $500 million transportation plan.

The House votes on Monday.

The Legislature would raise the gas tax by three cents, and cigarettes by one dollar a pack.

Governor Patrick has proposed his own $1.9 billion plan that would fund both transportation and education.

He would increase the income tax to 6.25%.

He threatened to veto the House and Senate proposal, claiming it does not go far enough to solve the long term problems facing the state.

Friday night, legislative leaders sent out these documents to members: Letter from House Ways and Means Committee | Transportation Bill Fact Vs. Fiction
