Chicken Nuggets Recalled For Plastic Contamination

BOSTON (CBS) -- Applegate is recalling about 9,000 packages of their Applegate Naturals chicken nuggets sold in seven states, including Massachusetts.

The company announced the recall this weekend, warning customers that 8 oz. packages of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets labeled best before September 27, 2016 might contain small pieces of plastic in them which could be harmful.

The recall was made after several customers called to report the tiny, clear plastic pieces inside the nuggets.

Applegate said no injuries or illnesses have been reported, and the recall does not affect any other Applegate products.

In addition to Massachusetts, the nuggets being recalled were also sold in Georgia, Florida, Indiana, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Applegate told customers who had purchased the nuggets to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.
