Business Headlines: New Suffolk President; Marriott Long Wharf Renovations
BOSTON (CBS) - It's taken two years, but Suffolk University has finally chosen its next president.
He's James McCarthy the current Provost at Baruch College in New York City.
McCarthy will have to lead Suffolk out of deep financial problems including about $360 million worth of debt, while shifting the campus from Beacon Hill to Downtown Crossing.
He succeeds David Sargent, who stepped down after his $1.5 million salary drew outrage.
NSTAR MERGER
Regulators in Connecticut will take a close look at NStar's proposed merger with Northeast Utilities.
They say they are legally obliged to look at the planned $17.5 billion deal that's already been met with several roadblocks here in Massachusetts.
Connecticut regulators will look at several factors in the proposed deal, including how a joint company would respond to storm coverage.
MARRIOTT LONG WHARF RENOVATIONS
And it already boasts one of the best addresses in Boston, now the Marriott Long Wharf on the Waterfront has put the finishing touches on a $30 million renovation.
They've updated the lobby and added a swanky new restaurant and bar called Waterline.
The hotel has also renovated all of its guest rooms and suites.
