Boston's Dog-Friendliest Work Places

Dogs are known to lower blood pressure and reduce work-related stress. And some workplaces allow employees to bring dogs to work one day a year, but there are a few true winners that allow canine co-workers Monday through Friday, 52 weeks a year. Check out these dog-friendly businesses in the greater Boston area.

A short jaunt from the city of Boston is SmartPak Equine. With Massachusetts locations in Plymouth and Natick, the company boasts a dog-friendly environment with at least 40 canine co-workers. SmartPak's main objective is horse health, and it has been awarded one of the Top 100 Places to Work by the Boston Globe, as well as a Best Bosses award by Fortune Small Business. Oh, and they're hiring.

Marblehead Engineering is a manufacturing company located in one of the most dog-friendly towns in Massachusetts: Marblehead. At Marblehead Engineering, Sadie, a black lab has practically become the mascot here. Sadie works in the office and has been featured in the local paper. She poses for the company's holiday card each year and has a fan club that includes her co-workers and the regular delivery truck drivers.

Multiple dogs accompany their owners to work at MMB, the award-winning advertising agency in Boston. The company is best known for its ads for Subway, StarKist, Discovery Channel, ESPN and more. The "more" includes an Emmy-winning Red Sox ad that may be the team's biggest win for a while (kidding). At MMB, their affinity for four-legged friends runs deep. In fact, Laurie Warden, Director of Digital Strategy raises and breeds Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, a breed that almost went extinct in the 1960s.
