After slow start, Red Sox fans are hoping for a reset on Opening Day at Fenway Park

It was the calm before the celebratory storm in and around Boston's beloved ballpark on Thursday night. Opening Day at Fenway Park is Friday afternoon, and fans can't wait to see what's in store this season.

"Seeing all the people around with Red Sox hats. I've got to get my gear on.  We've got matching shirts; we've got our seats. I'm just super excited for it," said fan Sarah Frederick.

Crews have completed all their finishing touches - on and off the field, and especially at the concession stand. New Fenway menu items include "Lobstah Poutine," loaded hot dogs, dressed up fries and delicious desserts.

"The summer is almost here; the good weather is almost here. We're making it out of the winter, especially in New England. I definitely think having that home advantage will be really good for them," said fan Nicole Dumont.

And after five straight losses on the road, fans are eager for a Red Sox reset.

"First game was fabulous. Everything was perfect. Good pitching, good hitting. Everything was great. Just like last year little stumbling. But last year we started out weak and ended up making the playoffs," said fan Will Equitz.

"They have great players, but I don't know if they have what it takes this year. You never know what's going to happen. They could definitely go on a run. We'll see," Terry Treger said.

Pregame ceremonies will honor the 40th anniversary of the club's 1986 American League Championship team. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 1:30 p.m. The game against the San Diego Padres starts at 2:10 p.m.
