Boston crime rates rise
Boston Police are beefing up patrols in response to a frightening jump in violent crime.
Murders are up 24 percent over this time in 2009, with 50 Boston homicides this year compared to 38 last year.
Last year had in fact been a relatively quite one, with increased police foot patrols credited with the lowest murder rate in six years.
