Water Shoots Above Trees During Leak On Boston Common
BOSTON (CBS) -- A major leak caused a geyser of water to shoot up above the trees on Boston Common for a brief time Monday morning.
The water was gushing at least 30 feet high from a spot near the Parkman Bandstand around 9:30 a.m.
The leak happened while crews were doing a routine preventative maintenance survey on a a 16" water main.
Boston Water and Sewer said a tube became loose during the work, leading to a large release of water.
They said the water has been shut off, there is no disruption to water service downtown, and permanent repairs were expected to be made soon.
