When dining out with an allergy, it can be quite difficult to find a variety of appealing (and safe) meals. But whether it is dairy, nuts or gluten that affects you, plenty of restaurants west of Boston have you covered. From gluten-free pizza or pasta to dairy-free entrees, and even special desserts, you will not be disappointed when dining at these spots.

Besides offering great service in a lively environment, with plenty to do like trivia and live entertainment, British Beer Company offers a wide variety of dining and drinking options. With locations throughout Massachusetts, including one right in Framingham, it's a low-key option with plenty of gluten-free menu selections. Salads like Caesar, steak or cobb, or starters like hummus with veggies or lettuce wraps, all offer delicious treats to satisfy your hunger. For a heartier meal, you can get a burger, wings, steak tips and salmon amongst the many options, and BBC even offers gluten-free pizza.

If you are kosher or if nut or dairy allergies are your issue, Blacker's Bakeshop in Newton has plenty to choose from. It bakes up fresh breads like Challah and rye and even offers tasty bagels for a hearty breakfast or lunch on the go. There are plenty of sweet treats for dessert or snack like cookies, cupcakes, brownies, Bubkah and pies. Blacker's is open Tuesday through Friday (at sundown) as well as on Sundays for when hunger strikes.

At Bill's in Natick, delicious pizza has been served up for over 40 years. Any of the award-winning pizza combinations offered can be made on a gluten-free crust. Or if you are on a health kick and do not have an allergy, wheat crust is available instead. If you have a dairy allergy though, cheese can easily be omitted from the pie. Bill's also has a wide range of toppings from bacon and chicken to marinated artichokes and caramelized onions, and so much more. You can get no sauce if you prefer and just get all of your toppings piled on the crust with veggies. The sky is the limit on creating your perfect allergy-free and/or gluten-friendly pizza.

Since 1998, Ming Tsai has offered up Asian fusion at Blue Ginger in Wellesley, featuring a combination of flavors from the East and West. Ming even developed a Food Allergy Reference Book and he is the national spokesperson for the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network and its new entity FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education) so diners can rest assured when dining at Blue Ginger.

Though this restaurant has a few locations, the Needham Stone Hearth Pizza Co. is its largest and most family-friendly location. From food and drinks to live music, Stone Hearth has it all including allergy-friendly menu options and a range of gluten-free dishes. Any of the 12-inch pizzas can be made with gluten-free crust for an additional $2 and prepared on a gluten-free dedicated pan in a gluten-free-safe oven, with a gluten-free-safe pizza cutter! Stone Hearth also offers gluten-free pasta, beer and even desserts. It is open every day of the week, and the food is completely house-made, so diners can enjoy only the freshest and healthiest recipes that meet any of their dietary restrictions.
