Barre Woman Charged With 9th Drunk Driving Offense

BARRE (CBS) -- A Barre woman arrested Sunday is now facing her 9th drunk driving offense.

Police were called to Deborah Adams' home on Exchange Street shortly after 10 a.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they saw a man standing outside and Adams, 58, driving away with her dog in her car. The man told police Adams was drunk.

Officers followed her car until she pulled into a nearby convenience store and apparently parked sideways in a parking spot. According to the police report, Adams told police she had mixed herself a drink and took it with her while she drove to the store to buy some cigarettes.

Her breath test indicated she had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit, the police report stated.

Adams has eight prior drunk driving convictions between 1979 and 2001.

She was arrested and held on $5,000 cash bail.
