Arrest Made In Lynn Bakery Attempted Robbery

LYNN (CBS) -- Police say the man who tried to rob a store in Lynn this week, but instead was met with a steel rod has been arrested.

Lynn police arrested Joseph Dominic James, 24, of Lynn, Thursday and charged him with attempted armed robbery of Arnold's Bakery Outlet Convenience Store on Monday.

Bo Thach, the store's owner, said when a man walked up to her counter Monday, pulled out a knife and demanded money, she pulled out a four-foot piece of rebar and hit the man.

Thach said she had been robbed twice before and a friend who works in construction gave her the steel rod to protect her store. After a few swings, the would-be robber left.

James is expected to be arraigned at Lynn District Court on Friday.
