WEATHER BLOG: End Of The Weekend

A southwest flow of air around a large high pressure zone over the western Atlantic will bring another dry and warm day to the region for Sunday. Highs will reach around 80. Sunshine will be more limited than on Saturday as high-level clouds associated with moisture gathering along a slow-moving cold front just west of the Appalachians brings dim sunshine to the area.

Clouds will thicken Sunday night and it will be quite mild. A wave of low pressure developing on the slowly approaching cold front will further slow the cold front. Showers should overspread the area after midnight.

Monday, showers will continue across the region and turn heavy at times later in the day. A few rumbles of thunder will occur.

MONDAY NIGHT-TUESDAY-TUESDAY NIGHT: Showers, some of which will be heavy, will continue to pass over the area as another zone of low pressure forms on the slow-moving front. Rain totals by Tue. night of 1-2 inches will be common which may lead to localized flooding.
