BGE Finishes Restoring Power From June 29 Storm
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Nine days after a violent storm that brought near-hurricane-force winds to the Mid-Atlantic region, the last remaining power outages have been restored.
Baltimore Gas & Electric announced Sunday afternoon that it had restored the more than 748,000 outages in its central Maryland service area that resulted from the storm the night of June 29.
BGE notes that it has also repaired more than 100,000 additional outages that resulted from subsequent storms and extreme heat.
Pepco, which serves Washington and its suburbs, and Dominion in northern Virginia had previously announced the restoration of power to all their customers. But all three companies still have thousands of active outages from more recent events, many resulting from the heat.
