Baltimore County police identify man suspected of killing Towson University student
Baltimore County police released new information Thursday about the man they're looking for in a suspected road rage shooting that ended in the death of a Towson University student.
Police said 33-year-old Reginald T. Gray Jr. is wanted for the killing of 22-year-old Nasir Majied on Friday, June 5, in Towson Circle. He is considered armed and dangerous, according to investigators.
According to police, the two were driving in different cars on York Road when Gray fired several shots at Majied, who was a Towson University student. Majied was rushed to a hospital, where he died.
Investigators released a wanted poster of Gray Thursday and a photo of the silver 2007 Nissan Altima they said he was driving at the time of the shooting.
Police described him as 6 foot-1, 190 pounds, and said he has a distinctive tattoo on the front of his neck. They said his car has "tinted windows bearing Virginia registration SXM-4392."
Police say they don't know if Gray and Majied knew each other or what led up to multiple shots being fired at the victim's car.
"A motive has not been determined in this investigation, but road rage has not been ruled out at this point," Det. Trae Corbin said Thursday.
WJZ has learned Gray was convicted of attempted murder in 2019. While he was sentenced to seven years in prison, he served less than five years and was released in 2024.
He was also charged with assault after he allegedly punched a corrections officer while at Central Booking pending his 2019 trial.
Court records also show he faced drug charges in 2013.
Last week, community leaders in Towson held a safety walk after the shooting.
County Police Chief Robert McCullough told WJZ the department was releasing information slowly to protect the investigation.
"Quite often when we don't share information, it's because we are protecting that investigation," McCullough said.
Police are offering a reward of $2,000 for any information leading to his arrest.
If found, call police immediately through 911 or 410-887-3700. Information can also be provided anonymously through Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587 or online at Metro Crime Stoppers.
