Arctic chill blows into Maryland behind Sunday evening showers, storms
A cold front moved through Maryland early Sunday evening, producing showers and even a few thunderstorms with small hail. Behind the front, much colder weather is blowing into Maryland.
Monday and Tuesday are First Alert Weather Days due to the sudden change in temperatures, along with gusty winds.
Temperatures are dropping across Maryland
Rain gradually moves eastward and out of Maryland late Sunday night and early Monday morning. As rain departs, temperatures will continue to tumble. Temperatures will average in the 30s and lower 40s in many neighborhoods across the Baltimore metro. A gusty breeze will make it feel like it's in the 20s and 30s through the morning commute.
Cold weather continues to pour in Monday.
Unusually cold November weather is in Baltimore's forecast
Temperatures remain in the 40s for many on Monday, and especially Tuesday, afternoons. We haven't felt daytime temperatures this cold since the middle of April.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for western Garrett County, in far western Maryland. Accumulating snow is forecast to fall in the higher elevations of western Maryland, off and on, Sunday night through Tuesday evening. 3" to 6" of snow will fall in western Garrett County before snow showers diminish.
Snow flurries are possible across the Baltimore metro on south, into southern Maryland later Monday into Tuesday. No accumulation is expected.
On top of that, we will have windy conditions. Winds will gust 25 to 35 MPH on Monday afternoon. Tuesday brings even windier weather. Wind gusts up to 45 MPH across central Maryland are possible; especially between mid-morning and mid-afternoon on Tuesday. "Wind chills" will be in the 20s and 30s Monday morning and teens, lower 20s Tuesday morning.
It'll remain cold and windy all day Veterans Day.
A brief warm-up gives way to more chilly weather in Maryland
Temperatures recover back into the upper 50s and lower 60s Wednesday afternoon, ahead of another surge of chilly weather.
While not as cold as earlier in the week, it'll feel a bit more like winter as the workweek comes to an end. Temperatures remain in the 40s in many areas Saturday afternoon, with freezing temperatures each morning.
Overall, it's a mainly dry week, with very little rain expected after early Monday morning.
Have a great Sunday evening,
