Temperatures are cooing back through the 70s and into the 60s this evening. Plan on a comfortable and dry Mother's Day evening across Greater Baltimore. While dry, you'll notice more clouds in the sky; a sign of wet weather headed our way.

Plan for multiple rounds of wet weather this week...

Monday starts off dry and seasonably cool. Clouds increase through the day. By late afternoon, the entire state will be covered in a gray sky. The chance of spotty light rain starts to climb after 4 p.m. Rain increases from south, to north, through the course of the evening. It may take until the wee hours of Tuesday morning for steady rain to fall in Baltimore.

Most of our region wakes up to wet weather Tuesday morning. While generally light, to moderate, a few embedded downpours are possible. Wet weather looks to be widespread and persistent Tuesday. In addition, rain may be heavy at times through the afternoon. The First Alert Weather Team is keeping an eye on Tuesday's weather setup. A First Alert Weather Day is possible. If it looks like weather is going to make for a rough commute or impact your plans more significantly, an alert will be added.

Additional rounds of scattered, periodic rain are expected through the workweek. Thursday appears to be the driest day. This weather pattern has the potential to put a bigger dent in the ongoing drought across Maryland. Forecast models continue to paint more than an inch of rain across the state by the weekend. Some areas could surpass 3" of rain by Preakness weekend.

As of this forecast, Preakness day looks drier with only isolated showers and storms.
