Patti LaBelle Releases Sweet 'Patti Cakes' At Wal-Mart

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- When a sweet potato pie lover sang his way into an internet sensation, sales of the pies from the singer Patti LaBelle sold out nationwide.

Now Mike Schuh says someone has to do it so he volunteered to get an early taste of her next creation.

Sweet potato pie from singer Patti LaBelle have sold out nationwide, thanks in part to the viral reaction of one man eating them.

"But when that went viral, the whole world wanted to try Patti LaBelle's sweet potato pie," said Wal-Mart Cockeysville manager Harry Anuszewski.

Then she came out with pound cake, which sells well---but next week, her real buttercreme cake will launch.

I got a sneak taste, but before I could grab a fork, I saw the look on Gregory Dorsey's face.

"I'm trying to taste some of this Patti LaBelle cake," he said.

But they brought this caramel cake for me. But Dorsey came on strong.

"I'm going to be the first one to taste this for you guys," he said.

This led to a line of would-be tasters.

Everyone enjoyed the caramel cake...but no one sang.

Her cakes and pies are only available at Wal-Mart and are $4 for sweet potato pies, $7 for pound cake and $14 for caramel cake.
