Ex-Police Officer Pleads Guilty In Child Porn Case
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A former police officer who hid a video camera in a girl's closet has pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography.
Edward Charles Schmitt, 38, of Laurel, who had been a police officer in Laurel, entered the plea on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore. He will be sentenced in September. If the court accepts his plea agreement, Schmitt will be sentenced to seven years in prison.
According to the plea deal, in February 2010, Schmitt hid a camera in a girl's closet. A search of Schmitt's computers and media card found sexually explicit videos of children.
