Daughter Of Murdered 91-Year-Old 'Grannie' Wants Justice

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Police are struggling to find the person who murdered a 91-year-old woman earlier this month.

Monique Griego has more on how those who knew "Grannie" are coming together to keep attention on the case.

Through voice and through scripture, loved ones of 91-year old Irene Logan or "Grannie" are making sure she's not forgotten.

"We want to find this person, whoever it is that has done this terrible thing, taken away my mother's life," said Irene Ushry, daughter.

Grannie's daughter, Irene Ushry, will never forget that terrible day, Aug. 3. She found her elderly mother stabbed to death inside their home on Moravia Street.

"I believed that she would have lived to be 100," Ushry said. "She did not have health problems."

Friends and family gathered in front of that same home for a candlelight vigil. They want to honor Grannie's life and keep attention on her case.

"It touched my heart and it helps me continue on to get through this situation," Ushry said.

Almost a month after Logan was killed, police still don't have any strong leads in the case or a suspect. The family feels this case may be going cold.

"We just haven't heard anything at all," Ushry said.

Detectives combed the neighborhood after Grannie's murder, but nothing has pointed them to a killer.

Grannie's loved ones can't begin to imagine who would murder a 91-year-old woman and why, but say whoever it is needs to be brought to justice.

"If you know anything at all, come forth," Ushry said. "Not be afraid to come forth and tell whatever it is that you know that we might bring closure to this situation."

Police haven't said whether robbery was a possible motive, but whoever killed Grannie ransacked a bedroom and stole some jewelry.

Baltimore City Police are asking anyone with information on this case to call them. You can remain anonymous.
