BLOG: Why The Demise Of Sports On Local TV?
Check out the front page of the Baltimore Sun. David Zurawik wrote an article about the local TV stations cutting back on sports on the local newscasts. Here's the link.
Remember back in the day watching guys like Vince Bagli, Randy Blair, and Chris Thomas, and more recently Scott Garceau, Gerry Sandusky, John Buren, Mark Viviano, Bruce Cunningham, Keith Mills, or even me. Now, there are sneezes that last longer than a local Baltimore sportscast on TV. The article discusses what has happened. Only a couple of my quotations made the article, but I believe it's because TV executives have taken the fun out of a local sportscast. We used to have fun. Now, local sports has been reduced to information. Now you can get that anywhere, so you don't need to wait until 11:20. What a shame!
