BLOG: Warm Winter

So here's our cooldown behind Monday's cold front. Even though we are no longer in the 60s, we are still in the 50s - which is above the average of 48 degrees. This warm winter of 2011-2012 rolls on. In fact, as meteorological winter comes to an end Wednesday, this will end up being one of the top 10 warmest winters ever on record.

A new storm moves our way Wednesday. Clouds will take over Tuesday night, then the rain will arrive Wednesday. Expect rounds of rain and drizzle throughout the day, keeping temperatures in the 40s. The rain will slowly move away either Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. When it does, warmer air will arrive with some sunshine for the first day of March. This is a real marker for our weather. We have gotten some big March storms in years past. However, there are more factors working against any storm that late in the season and the snow doesn't usually last very long if it does fall.

Clouds will be back on the increase Friday as another storm moves our way. Rain could arrive as early as Friday night and continue into Saturday before this storm gets out of here Sunday. We will be in the upper 50s heading into this storm, but gusty winds will bring in colder air for Sunday and Monday, probably just knocking highs back down to the 40s.
