BLOG: Snow Already?

It's not out of the question that we get snow this early in the season. We've gotten snow as early as Oct. 10 in recent years. But while the main focus so far with the upcoming storm has been damage to trees and power lines, I would also point out that there can be some travel issues Saturday afternoon, especially in areas west and north of Baltimore. I think it can snow quite hard for a time in those areas, and some roads can therefore get covered with snow or slush and be quite slippery as a result. Toward the coast, there will be more of a focus on heavy rainfall with potential flooding of low-lying areas and also the potential for coastal flooding with strong east to northeast wind. For Baltimore: 1-3 inches, mainly on grassy surfaces with wet pavement. In Harford, Frederick and Carroll counties, as well as in nearby York County, Pa.: 3-5 inches, with some accumulation on road surfaces
