Unseasonably cold temperatures prompt Cold Blue Alert for Howard County
BALTIMORE -- City and county governments in the Baltimore area are putting residents on alert with the arrival of unseasonably cold temperatures.
Last week, Baltimore City and Baltimore County announced the opening of their cold weather shelters.
On Monday, Howard County declared a Code Blue Alert due to temperatures forecasted to be in the low 20s in the evening.
Howard County issues Cold Blue Alert
Howard County's Code Blue Alert comes as low temperatures are expected to stick around throughout the week.
Those in need of shelter should contact the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center at 410-531-6677 or walk into the center at 8990 Old Annapolis Road, Suite A.
Baltimore County Weather Shelters
Baltimore County opened its freezing weather centers in Rosedale and Woodlawn through December 3.

Shelter activation begins at 6 p.m. each night and continues through 9 a.m. the following day. Guests should arrive between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. for intake.
Baltimore City Shelters
The Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Homeless Services has also activated its Winter Shelter Status. Warming centers will be open until Tuesday, December 3 at 9:00 a.m.

The city's Winter Shelter and Code Purple Plan went into effect on November 1 and will remain in place until March 31, 2025.
