Baltimore Co. Officer Identified In Departmental Shooting

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—Exclusive video obtained by WJZ shows the moments leading up to a police-involved shooting in Baltimore County.

Around 2:00 a.m. Thursday police say they stopped a vehicle suspected to be involved in narcotics activity at Old Eastern Ave and Harrison Ave.

In the surveillance footage, you can see the Nissan Altima pull up; the passenger gets out as the police car arrives on the scene.

When the lights turn on, the Altima pulls away — leaving the passenger in the street with his hands up in the air.

But as the officer approaches seconds later — the man reaches down towards his waist.

That's when the officer fires hitting the man at least once. The man remains hospitalized and is expected to survive.

Investigators did not find a gun on the suspect, but says a loaded gun was found inside the car — along with a scale and cash.

Police have arrested the car driver — Timothy Dudeck — who they say was found with suspected Oxycodone and cocaine as well as $1,800 on him.

Dudeck is charged with possession of CDS with intent to distribute, firearms violations, and other related charges. He was released on $100,000 bail.

On Saturday, the officer who fired his weapon is being identified as Officer Olszewski, a 7-year veteran assigned to the Essex precinct.

Police say charges are still pending for the man shot by police.

The troubling incident has raised questions, where was the gun found in the car?

"The officers found the handgun in the passengers compartment of the vehicle that would make it accessible to anyone in the passenger compartment of the vehicle," said Cpl. John Wachter.

Investigators and the state's attorney are also looking closely at this surveillance video to determine if the officer could face any charges.
