Rihanna's Beverly Hills home hit by gunfire; suspect arrested, LAPD says
A woman was arrested on Sunday for firing multiple shots at the Beverly Hills home of pop music star Rihanna, Los Angeles Police Department officials say.
Officers were sent to the area at around 1:15 p.m. after learning of shots being fired, according to the LAPD. Upon arrival, they located a suspect and took them into custody without further incident.
Police say that the suspect parked her car outside of the home and fired seven gunshots before speeding away. Her vehicle, a white Tesla, was located approximately eight miles away from the singer's home, at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping center, where the woman was taken into custody. She has not yet been publicly identified.
No injuries were reported and the weapon used in the shooting was recovered by police, LAPD officials said. They also said that seven "assault rifle casings" were found at the home.
An LAPD official confirmed with CBS LA that the home targeted in the incident belongs to Rihanna. Officers on Monday said that three people were home when the shooting happened. They did not say if Rihanna or her family were present.
On Monday, LAPD officers identified the woman as 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz of Orlando, Florida. She was booked for attempted murder and her bail has been set at $10.255 million, police said.
Aerial footage showed multiple gunshot holes in the gate surrounding the property, in an Airstream trailer parked outside of the house and at least one bullet hole on the actual exterior wall of the home. The street leading up to the property was blocked off by police tape as LAPD detectives continued their investigation.
Investigators still haven't determined a motive for the shooting.
A social media post appearing to belong to Ortiz shows a post directed towards the singer several weeks ago. It said, "@badgirlriri Are you there? ... say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I'm not at."
In other posts, Ortiz says that Rihanna did "her little music thing so she can do witchcraft" and that Rihanna "wants to kill me."
Court records show that Ortiz was arrested for domestic violence in 2023 and recently sought an injunction to block a Billie Eilish concert in Florida.
CBS LA has reached out to Ortiz's family and an attorney that she mentions in a YouTube video, but has not yet heard back.
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, rose to fame in the early 2000s with mega-hits like "Pon de Replay" and "Umbrella." Since then, she has turned her successful Grammy-winning music career into a business empire under her brand Fenty, which now specializes in cosmetics, fashion and lingerie. She has been with her partner, rapper ASAP Rocky, since 2020, and they share three children. She famously announced her second pregnancy during the Super Bowl LVII halftime show.
