Coca-Cola semi truck rollover crash on I-95 near Miami Gardens Drive backs up traffic for miles

Coca-Cola truck rollover crash on I-95 causes massive delays

MIAMI - An accident involving a tractor-trailer hauling Coca-Cola brought a section of I-95 to a standstill Thursday morning.

It happened in the southbound lanes between Ives Dairy Road and Miami Gardens Drive.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the tractor-trailer lost control while trying to avoid a crash ahead. The truck slammed into a guardrail and overturned, spilling soda cans and water bottles all over the road.

The driver was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries.

A car that was involved in the crash came to a stop partially blocking one regular lane and one express lane.

For most of the morning, all of the regular southbound lanes were closed and only one express lane was getting by. Traffic backed up to Hollywood Boulevard.

As of about 11:30 a.m., several regular lanes opened, but the two right lanes remained closed for cleanup. Only one express lane was open.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area. Use the Turnpike instead.
