"Alarmingly insufficient" oversight of security clearance program, official says

"There is an alarmingly insufficient level of oversight of the federal investigative services program" that conducts background checks for security clearances, said Patrick McFarland, the inspector general at the Office of Personnel Management, during a congressional hearing on Thursday.
