Welcome back. We continue to follow the breaking news, that deadly collision that killed two pilots at LaGuardia Airport. Federal officials now on the scene investigating and gathering information. CBS News New York's Elijah Westbrook is there and can tell us the latest. Elijah, good morning. What are we learning about how this incident happened? Errol, good morning to you. Well, certainly quite the morning here at LaGuardia Airport after a plane late last night had landed right here at the airport and collided with a truck that was crossing the runway. We know this all went down just after 11:30 PM. In fact, I want to take you to some video we have of this dramatic scene as we break down the details for you. Here is what we know as we speak. Officials say Air Canada Express Flight 8646 had just landed from Montreal and was slowing down, specifically on runway four, when it collided with a truck on the runway. We're told that truck was associated with airport operations, and we're told it was responding to a reported odor at the time on board a United Airlines plane that was near the tarmac. There were two officers inside that vehicle. One of the key elements here is that the control tower is responsible for directing all movement on the runway, including both aircraft and ground vehicles. So a major part of this investigation will focus on how those movements were coordinated. We know that the impact caused significant damage to the aircraft, as you can likely see there, and triggered a massive emergency response. The FAA has since shut down LaGuardia Airport, with the airport closed until at least 2:00 PM. We know that a ground stop is in place, meaning flights have been halted, delayed, or diverted to other airports. Meanwhile, the NTSB has launched a full investigation. And, of course, we'll learn much more about that as the morning and just the day progresses, Errol.
