Congress holds rare Saturday session after Senate fails to pass bill before shutdownn deadline

President Trump marked the end of his first year in office with the federal government in a partial shutdown. After the senate failed to approve a temporary spending bill by the midnight deadline, the government officially ran out of money for the fiscal year.
