Almanac: Vietnam Veterans Memorial
On November 10, 1982, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington was opened to the public. The wall is engraved with the names of the more than 58,000 Americans who died in the highly controversial war - and the monument itself was not without controversy.
