Judge blocks Trump order cutting NPR and PBS funding, citing First Amendment
A federal judge has blocked President Trump’s directive to cut off funding for NPR and PBS, ruling that the executive order violated the First Amendment by denying support based on editorial viewpoint. Although Congress had already rescinded federal funding for public media last summer, the ruling opens the possibility for NPR, PBS and other public broadcasters to seek funding from federal agencies in the future.
