FDA's AI tool citing nonexistent studies, employees say

Earlier this year, the FDA unveiled Elsa, an artificial intelligence tool that's expected to speed up the process for approving drugs and medical devices. The problem? According to some current FDA employees, Elsa is making up studies that don't exist. They say it makes it hard to trust the tool for their most vital safety work and research.
