DART backs plan to boost funding for cities considering leaving system

DART’s board has approved a six‑year funding plan designed to keep several North Texas cities from leaving the transit system. The proposal, passed 10-1, returns a growing share of member cities’ sales‑tax revenue -- starting at 5% and rising to 7.5% -- and pairs it with new Regional Transportation Council funding. Combined, cities are expected to receive roughly 10% more funding by 2031.
