Dallas ISD poised to reject state‑mandated prayer period

Dallas ISD is expected to vote against adopting a formal period of prayer and Bible reading, a decision required by March 1 under a new state law. The district joins most North Texas schools in saying a designated prayer period is unnecessary because students and staff already have the constitutional right to pray or read religious texts on campus. Only a small number of districts have opted in so far.
