No foul was initially called after Alyssa Thomas' fist made contact with Caitlin Clark's throat during a game between the Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever on Wednesday.
Paige Bueckers scored a season-high 31 points, Jessica Shepard had 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, and the Dallas Wings beat the Phoenix Mercury 85-70.
Bueckers scored 10 of her 15 first-half points in the final 2:30 to help Dallas build a 57-47 lead.
Aziaha James scored 20 of her 28 points in the first half, Paige Bueckers added 23 and the Dallas Wings started four rookies in a 98-89 victory over the Phoenix Mercury.
Bueckers returned to the court Wednesday night after missing four games due to concussion protocol and an illness.
Arike Ogunbowale scored 29 points to rally the Dallas Wings to a 77-74 victory over Phoenix, eliminating the Mercury from playoff contention.
"The Mercury fully support Brittney and we will continue to work together on a timeline for her return," the team said on Saturday.
Brittney Griner had a Texas homecoming in her first game in her home state since being released from a Russian prison.
Griner will be re-signing with the Phoenix Mercury for a one-year contract, a source has confirmed to CBS News.
