Without having time to make complete repairs, many of the homeowners felt like they had done everything possible to put temporary coverings in place and just hope they would hold. For some, the patchwork just couldn't withstand the new round of wind and rain.
Families soon found water leaking through holes in the ceiling and new water damage threatening to create more openings.
Despite broken windows and holes in her own ceiling, April Rice insists she's one of the lucky ones who can still stay in her home. That's why she's started a fundraiser selling Wylie T-shirts to help less fortunate storm victims, who will need long-term help.
"I know quite a few families that actually moved out of their house yesterday, and then I was actually talking to a couple of people at church today that have no insurance," Rice said.
Some volunteers that have been helping people patch up roofs tell me they're going to start back up tomorrow morning, but today's rain has caused a safety concern.
If you'd like to help some of the storm victims here in Wylie, you can find more information on how to buy those t-shirts here.
