DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman needs Consumer Justice after she paid for a purse on eBay and received a big bill from a department store.
Martha Shaw found a Michael Kors bag on eBay a few months ago and jumped at the chance to buy it.
"Two-hundred dollars was the total price," said Shaw.
Shaw paid for the designer purse with her Capital One card and received an email seven days later stating it had shipped.
When the purse arrived, it was in Macy's packaging.
Shaw thought it was a little strange since she bought it off eBay.
"Maybe Macy's was selling last year's merchandise on eBay," Shaw assumed.
But then she received a letter informing Shaw that she received a product she hadn't paid for and -- she owed Macy's $387.
"So I'm on the phone with Macy's immediately," said Shaw.
Martha explained she already paid for the bag and tried to figure out why Macy's would send her a product she didn't order from the store and how the company was even involved with the eBay seller.
"Round and round on the phone with customer service. They said to make fraud claim," said Shaw.
Thus, Shaw filed a claim and looked up the seller again on eBay.
The seller, who is now shut down, has five bad reviews including another customer who also reported a fraud issue to Macy's.
"It's all regarding Michael Kors purses," said Shaw.
Martha waited 30, 60 then 90 days until she received a decision from Macy's.
"I get the letter from Macy's, there's no fraud found," said Shaw.
Martha said she is left with a lot of questions and a big bill.
"I don't think I'm the one that has to foot the bill and I won't pay the $387," said Shaw.
Consumer Justice reached out to the Macy's corporate office with Shaw's story and all of her documents.
A Macy's corporate representative said they are investigating exactly what happened.
Consumer Justice will follow up when a resolution is reached.
