Winds of Change Blow In Tonight

The biggest weather story for North Texas:  wind.  And a lot of it starting later tonight.  A cold front is rapidly moving south through Oklahoma this afternoon.  It should arrive in the Metroplex between 10pm and midnight.

Immediately, the wind will pick up out of the north, gusting over 35 or 40 mph.  That strong wind will last all throughout the overnight.  It will be rattling the windows for most.  So you'll hear it before you feel it tomorrow morning.

A WIND ADVISORY will go into effecting starting at 10pm tonight for all of North Texas.  The higher gusts could reach 50 mph!!  Tie down any loose objects you don't want to see in your neighbor's yard by the morning, including trash cans.

The wind will stay up for Wednesday and it will be much cooler than today, when many of us got into the 80s for high temps.  Wednesday will feature sunshine, but highs only in the 50s.

The high wind will also increase the grass fire danger in North Texas.  Many counties are already under a burn ban and with it so gusty in the next 24 hours, it's probably a good idea to avoid outdoor burning if at all possible anywhere in North Texas.

It will get cold Wednesday night into Thursday morning, as the wind dies down.  Expect a milder end to the week.  Could have a few showers over the weekend, but nothing terribly significant at this time.  Our dry, windy March continues...
