Winds Blamed For Low Water Pressure In DeSoto
DESOTO (CBSDFW.COM) - At least 8,000 residents in DeSoto woke up Monday morning with either low water pressure or no water at all. The city is blaming the problem on the strong winds that blew across North Texas on Sunday night and Monday morning.
DeSoto city spokeswoman Kathy Jones said that the winds knocked out part of a data system that is used to control water pumps at the city's water facility on Westmoreland Drive. With that data system down, an alarm was unable to sound and officials never saw a problem until it was too late on Monday.
The problems are focused in the southwest side of DeSoto, which is the city's most heavily populated area.
Some DeSoto Independent School District buildings are experiencing low water pressure, however, there are not expected to be any major problems related to this issue.
The city has started the process of manually re-filling water tanks. Water pressure should improve across the area throughout Monday morning.
