When Thunderstorms Arrive In North Texas
FOGGY, DREARY WEATHER THRU THE NIGHT...
A pretty dreary day across parts of North Texas today. Drizzle, mist and fog have been slow to burn off this afternoon. To the south though the clouds have broken a bit and temperatures have warmed into the 80s! Here's a look at temperatures as of 3pm Wednesday. Note south of our stalled out cold front, temps are in the upper 80s. But from just south of the metroplex northward is where temperatures are still in the 60s with some drizzle.
FRONT MOVES NORTH TONIGHT...
That stalled out front will lift north overnight tonight. There will be more drizzle, fog and low clouds until the front clears the area by tomorrow morning. Some areas for the morning commute tomorrow will once again see patchy drizzle and patchy fog. Here is the weather timeline for tonight and tomorrow.
WARM WEATHER RETURNS...
As you can see above, once the clouds break in the afternoon temperatures will warm into the mid 80s tomorrow afternoon. We will see highs in the upper 80s on Friday and Saturday. It will be breezy and muggy as we wrap up the week.
STORM CHANCES...
Storm chances arrive late Saturday into Sunday morning. The timing of this next system will favor showers and thunderstorms for North Texas Saturday night into Sunday morning. An upper level low will swing into the Central Plains this weekend. Most of the energy will stay to our north and west. There will be a chance of severe weather in West Texas, Oklahoma and up into Kansas and Missouri Saturday into Sunday. For us, the timing is such where the severe threat won't be as high. We still could see some strong to even isolated severe storms Saturday night into Sunday morning, but with most of the energy staying north and the storm coming thru at night... our severe weather chances look are not terribly high.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny and muggy. High of 86. S 10-20 mph
FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy and mild. Low of 72. S 10-20 mph
SATURDAY: Partly sunny, muggy and breezy. 20% chance of storms in the evening. High of 88. S 15-30 mph
SATURDAY NIGHT: Showers and thunderstorms possible. Rain chance 40%. Strong storms possible. Low of 68. S 10-20 mph
SUNDAY: Morning showers then mostly cloudy. High of 85. S 10-15 mph
MONDAY: Sunny skies, warm. Low of 65. High of 88.

Back from vacation...
On a personal note, it is nice to be back at work after a few days off. My in-laws live in Florida so we got to spend some time with them. My father-in-law turn 79 this month. It is great when they get to spend time with their grandkids. As a family we got to visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. They have a dolphin named Winter that had to have its tail amputated. There was a movie filmed based on this dolphin's story called "Dolphin Tail". This aquarium was probably the closest you can get to dolphins, stingrays and turtles as any place I have every been. My daughters really loved it. Anyways, great to be back with you on CBS 11 News at 5, 6 and 10pm. We have lots of weather to talk about so I hope you will tune in. Larry Mowry
