No Bomb Found At Waxahachie School Despite Threat

WAXAHACHIE (CBSDFW.COM) - Police allowed students, faculty and staff to return to Howard 8th Grade Center Monday after a bomb-sniffing dog failed to find any explosives in the school despite an early morning threat.

The bomb threat came at 8:40 a.m., and the school was safely evacuated by 9:30 a.m. Students, faculty and staff were moved to the Solis Gymnasium at the Waxahachie Ninth Grade Academy because of the cold weather.

Students were asked to stay in the gymnasium, however parents who wished to pick their child up were allowed to do so after following the district's checkout procedures and showing proper identification.

At 9:50 a.m., police called in a bomb-sniffing dog to search the campus for any explosives. The dog finished its search at 11 a.m., and students and employees were allowed to return to the campus. School will dismiss at its normal hour.
