UPDATE on Rain Chances for Your Weekend in North Texas

RAIN MOVING INTO NORTH TEXAS...

Spotty showers and isolated thunderstorms are already moving into the Metroplex this afternoon.  More showers and very isolated thunderstorms will be possible as we continue into the evening hours.  It won't be a washout the whole time, but prepare for rain if you are heading to some of the high school football games or maybe the State Fair.
The complicated part of this forecast is how heavy the rain will be on Saturday.  Like yesterday, I am still expecting the heaviest rain to fall in Central and South Texas.  We will be on the northern edges of the disturbance that is pushing thru Texas.  Like I expressed yesterday on CBS 11 News at 10pm, if storms suck up all the moisture south of us, that will not leave much in the way of heavy rain for North Texas.  What can be expected for our Saturday is a cloudy and dreary day with periods of showers.  There could be an isolated thunderstorm, but this will not be a stormy day as most of the rain will come with no lightning.  Rain coverage will likely be at its greatest from mid morning into the mid afternoon hours.  As we go into the evening on Saturday, rain coverage will taper off but there will still be rain around the area.

Difference between 100% and 70% rain chance. 

You may have seen some forecast showing 100% rain chance for Saturday.  The reason I have a 70% rain chance for North Texas is because I am forecasting coverage of rain.  I fully expect that if you live in the metroplex you will see rain at some point during the day tomorrow.  However, if you live north of US 380 closer to the Red River, you may not see much in the way of rain tomorrow.  North Texas covers from the Red River to Waco and from Canton to Breckenridge.  That is a pretty large area.  So the 70% rain chance I am forecasting covers that entire area.
