UNT Tops Mississippi Valley State 67-52

DENTON (AP) - Muhammed Ahmed scored 15 points and North Texas beat Mississippi Valley State 67-52 on Wednesday.
Ahmed grabbed nine boards as the Mean Green (4-1) out-rebounded the Delta Devils (0-5) 49-35. Colin Voss added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Mississippi Valley State shot just 26 percent. Jordan Washington finished with 16 points on 4 of 13 shooting. DeAngelo Priar had 12 on 3 of 13 from the floor and Issac Williams had 12 points and eight rebounds.
MVSU actually lead after 5 minutes, 9-3, on three Priar 3-pointers. But North Texas responded with a 14-2 run — including 3s by T.J. Taylor and Maurice Aniefiok — and led 41-27 at the break.
The Delta Devils cut the deficit to eight on Washington's trey with 10:12 left, but a 7-0 run by North Texas pushed the lead back into double digits.
