Odd Graffiti Pops Up in Weatherford, Police Ask For Help
WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) – Weatherford Police are asking for help tracking down those responsible for an outbreak of odd graffiti found along the Town Creek Hike and Bike Trails.
The graffiti, which was painted on several small culverts along the trail, depicts symbols that appear to be Greek letters and small, stenciled rats with "Eat Meat" printed underneath. Several railroad signs and a small storage building next to the tracks were spray painted with "J C squared O."
Cpl. Wendy Field of the Weatherford PD said that the graffiti was first noticed on Wednesday, and will cost the city anywhere from $500 to $1000 in clean up costs.
Field said that this incident is strange because of the type of graffiti involved.
"We haven't come to any conclusive evidence that tells us what exactly it is," she said. "I'm not saying this isn't gang related, but the stuff we usually see is clearly gang related or we've at least seen it before."
The Weatherford Police Department is offering a $1000 reward for information about the crime. They ask anyone with information to contact Parker County Crime Stoppers today at 817-588-5555 or 1-800-942-STOP.
Field is hoping that because they symbols are unique they may "spark someone's memory."
