Trophy Club Pilot Gets 50 Years In Jail For Killing Brother

DALLAS (AP) - A Denton County jury deliberated less than an hour before finding a corporate pilot guilty of murdering his brother four years ago.

The Dallas Morning News reported that 49-year-old Mark Honish of Trophy Club was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Thursday.

He was accused of shooting David Honish twice in the head.

Prosecutor Cary Piel said David Honish was killed because he was threatening to expose a secret: that Mark Honish had been convicted in Wisconsin in the 1980s for sexual assault and later for criminal trespass and battery.

David Honish was planning to open a gun range. It is illegal for felons to have firearms.

Defense attorney James Shaw argued that his client wouldn't have had time to commit the crime under the prosecution's timetable.
