To Raise Property Taxes Or Not
It got ugly yesterday as Dallas County Commissioners worked on fixing their 23 million dollar budget gap.
To raise property taxes or not, that is the question. One side wants to raise it by 1.5 percent to avoid more cuts the other would rather see cuts in pay and jobs. They say the recession is no time to raise taxes, and doing so would cause more foreclosers. In the end they won no tax hike. So county department heads will have to rethink ways to cut their 2011 budget by the required 10 percent and be ready for a vote on September 21st.
